Protective Coatings

Coating steel and infrastructure to last.

East Coast Refinishing applies protective coating systems to fabricated steel, structural assemblies, pressure vessels, skids, and engineered equipment from our 32,000 sq ft facility in Pittsfield, MA. Coating work is performed in two enclosed, climate-controlled paint booths, with bake-cure available for applications that require it. Abrasive blasting is done in the same building, so components move directly from surface prep to coating without leaving the facility.

We hold a GSA Contract (#47QSHA22D002M) and work to SSPC/AMPP standards. Documentation is available for projects that require it.

What We Coat

  • Fabricated structural steel assemblies and weldments
  • Pressure vessels and industrial tanks
  • Skids, frames, and modular process equipment
  • Data center infrastructure, enclosures, and racking
  • Marine components and hardware
  • Military and government equipment (MIL-spec capable)
  • Industrial equipment frames, bases, and housings
  • Power generation and energy infrastructure components
  • Piping systems, fittings, and process components

Coating Systems

We apply a full range of protective coating systems, selected based on environmental exposure, service conditions, and project specifications:

  • Zinc-rich primers (organic and inorganic)
  • Epoxy intermediates and high-build coats
  • Polyurethane and aliphatic urethane topcoats
  • Chemical- and abrasion-resistant systems
  • High-temperature coatings
  • Marine-grade coating systems
  • Military specification (MIL-spec) coatings
  • Project-specified and engineer-specified systems

System selection is driven by substrate, exposure environment, service temperature, and specification requirements.

Quality & Compliance

Coating work is performed in accordance with SSPC/AMPP surface preparation and application standards. Our process includes:

  • Surface cleanliness and profile verified before coating
  • Wet and dry film thickness (WFT/DFT) inspection at every coat
  • Environmental condition monitoring during application (temperature, dew point, humidity)
  • Controlled paint booth environment for consistent coverage and finish
  • Documentation packages available to support project specifications and compliance requirements

Industries We Serve

We work with a range of industries where coating performance directly impacts equipment longevity, safety, and compliance:

  • Metal fabricators and job shops
  • Industrial manufacturing facilities
  • Energy, power generation, and utilities
  • Municipal and government / defense contractors
  • Marine and waterfront infrastructure
  • Data center and technology infrastructure
  • Engineering and construction
